Fruit Season in Malaysia


May to July is certainly the time to enjoy the exotic tropical fruit of Malaysia. Check out some of these common tropical fruits.
  • Durian is the ‘king of fruits’ - which has a very pungent smell, but loved by many

  • Langsat and duku is the size of marbles; white to translucent; its taste can vary from sour to very sweet.

  • Mangoes - a wide variety is sold and is popularly grown in Malaysia.

  • Mangosteen is about the size of a tennis ball and dark purple when ripe; sweet and slightly sour taste of the white flesh inside

  • Rambutan is the size of a ping-pong ball, very hairy on the outside, the fruit inside is very sweet.

2008 Malaysia Election Results

At the 2008 election in Malaysia on 8 March 2008, candidates vied for 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats. Though the coalition government (ruling government) won the federal government again (by a simple majority), opposition parties took over the state government in five states! A first for oposition parties in Malaysia.
